Life Group FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
How big is a Life Group?
Most groups consist of 8 to 12 members.
When and where do Life Groups meet?
Groups meet on various days and nights of the week at the church or at
each other’s homes. Meetings typically last an hour to an hour and a half.
Who can participate?
Life Groups are open to anyone whether you attend Journey Church or not.
How long does a Life Group stay together?
As with a friendship, we don’t determine an end. Individuals have the
freedom to stay or go. Keep in mind that it will take several weeks before
you begin to feel at home.
What Kinds of Life Groups are there?
We have men only, women only, mixed groups (couples and singles), special
interest, and age specific.
Which group should I join?
You may join a group by location, by your station in life, by special
interest, or by a particular study. It may take a couple of tries before you
find the right fit. But don’t give up! You will find it!
Can I bring my children?
Life Groups are designed for adults. We leave it up to each family and
each Life Group to work out their childcare.
What will we study?
Each group selects their study (i.e. Bible study, Christian living,
seasonal, etc.). From time-to-time, we follow a church wide sermon-based
study.
Do I have to pray out loud?
This is always up to you. Many people are hesitant to pray in front of
others. A Life Group is the perfect place to learn how to pray by having a
conversation together with God. No one is pressured to pray, but as you
become comfortable, you will be able to join others in prayer.
Do I have to know a lot about the Bible?
No. That’s what you’ll learn about in a Life Group.
Is there a cost to join a Life Group?
Not usually. If there is a cost, it is minimal. Members may be asked to
purchase their own study materials. If you need assistance purchasing the
materials, please let your leader know and they will ensure you have the
materials you need.
How do I connect to a Life Group?
You can attend one of our Life Group Connection Events or contact Larry
Edlund, Life Group Connector at 916 983-4648.
