Mexico Outreach 2008: March 14-22, 2008
Journey Church's Mexico Outreach 2008 is planned for the week before
Easter Sunday. We will leave the church early on Friday morning March
14, 2008 and will return late afternoon on Saturday March 22, 2008.
See the Mexico Outreach page for a detailed 2008
Trip Timeline.
That will be a full week packed with activities such as worship, games, VBS,
construction, and a fun trip to the beach. However, if we are
faithful, God will bless each participant in this outreach richly.
That include all team members-the ones that go down to Mexico as well as the
ones that help with the preparation of financial support of the trip.
The following information is for existing and prospective team members.
Please e-mail
Koos Prins or call him at (916) 505-1744 if you have any questions
regarding this years trip.

put your name on the list for a possible cancellation you can still complete a

Preparing for the Trip
The following applies to team members that are going to Mexico.
You Need a Passport
ALL TEAM MEMBERS MUST HAVE VALID PASSPORTS - this is not optional - "… beginning October 1, 2007, all U.S. Citizens traveling outside the United States will be required to present a valid passport to enter and depart from the United States.", as quoted from the website of the U.S. Department of State. You can apply for your passport at the Folsom Post Office.
Please do not delay!
Mandatory Training Sessions
All team members are expected to attend ALL mandatory training sessions.
These training sessions are planned for the last six (6) Sundays before the
trip. The first meeting is at February 3, 2008. These meetings will
be used for team building, to plan VBS activities, to learn games and songs to
use for VBS, and exchange important information on team activities during our
stay,
Spanish Lessons
We have a person that volunteered her services to teach some basis Spanish
for those who are interested. This person is an experience translator that
work with several mission teams in Mexico. Contact Koos Prins for more
information.
Health Issues
No specific inoculation are required to travel to Mexico. Neither
is there any specific precaution to take before you go, unless you are on
specific medication. Please contact
Debra Finney with your health care questions.
There are some common sense rules to follow to minimize the risk of
getting sick while we are in Mexico. For example: do not drink water out of
faucets - use bottled water; and only eat approved food or that you know it
is prepared with clean water. You are in contact with kids and adults all
the time. Therefore, use hand sanitizers on a regular basis - especially
before you eat.
