Missions Activities
About Our Missions Activities
Mission Statement
To challenge Journey Church to follow Jesus command in Acts 1:8,
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you
will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Vision Statement
To educate and promote local, national and international mission
activities within the church.
Mission Focus
Journey Church experience a season of limited financial resources, which
resulted in a significant reduction in the funding for all
programs, including Missions Activities. Consequently, our Missions
Activities
focus had to be adjusted to accommodate the current situation. Although we
had to interrupt our financial support to several missionaries and mission
programs, we still extend our prayer support to them. We also provide our
members the opportunity to contribute on an individual basis to any of the
activities (see Mission Support for more details).
The Mission Team's current focuses are listed below:
Local Activities
Journey Church's members are active in local activities such as Power House
Ministries, the Twin Lakes Food Bank, Furniture for Families, and Campus Crusade
at our local colleges. We provide financial support for Power House
Ministries, the Twin Lakes Food Bank.
International Activities
Journey Church actively supports two international missionary programs
and also supports a number of oversees missionaries. Our
Mexico
Outreach Program is an in-house program that partners with three churches
near Luis B. Sanchez in Mexico to reach out to their local youth and
communities. Discipling Our Nations Effectively (D.O.N.E.) is a
non-denominational West African outreach program founded in 1995 to make
disciples and evangelize among Muslims, Animist, nominal Christians and all
unreached peoples of their target areas. Our support for international
missionaries include the Schoch family (a CHRISTAR mission in Albania), the
Andrusyak family (a SEND International mission in Russia), and the Smiths
(a WYCLIFFE Bible translation mission in Mexico).
Presbyterian Church (USA) Programs
Journey Church contributes to the PC (USA)'s Basic Mission Support, which
strengthens and promotes the mission of the entire
church. We also participate in PC (USA)'s annual Special Offerings:
the Christmas Joy Offering (i.e., an offering to assist
retired ministers and missionaries living with special needs and assisting
colleges for native students) and One Great Hour of Sharing (i.e., an offering
for assistance in times of disaster).
